The GPS safari is an educational, flexible and progressive leisure activity you can practice in the heart of the countryside but also in the town. There are lots of themes: legends, famous men, noticeable trees…, little known but also classified sites (cascades, sources, viewpoints, belvederes…) or leisure activities (cycling, skiing, snowshoeing…) with caches to discover at the end.
Circuits based on a specific theme:
River Treasures of the Doubs:
A series of 5 caches is scattered all along the circuit related to the water theme. Water is omnipresent in the Doubs department and particularly in the area around the Loue and Lison rivers (Loue-Lison). Punch your safari pass to get an additional gift (once you discover at least 3 caches).
Uncover the secrets of time:
Cradle and fief of French watchmaking, the Doubs department perpetuates an old know-how of more than 3 centuries.
The clock-making culture is deeply rooted: craftsmen and master clock makers, who have inherited an age-old know-how, mix with contemporary firms which combine tradition with modern designs, materials of today and state-of-the-art technology with the same objective: to innovate and control the “petit-précis”.
Thus, you will be given the possibility to follow in the footsteps of the Doubs' watch making tradition by discovering 6 caches in the clock-making region. Once you discover 3 caches, you get an additional gift.
In the footsteps of Gustave Courbet:
« You really need to know a country, if you want to paint it. I know every twist and turn of my country, I paint it. These woodlands, they're home to me, this river is the Loue, that one, the Lison; these cliffs are at Ornans and those there are the crags at the Puits noir. Take a look at them for yourself - and you'll recognise all my paintings. » Gustave Courbet
Take the advice of the Master and discover landscapes of the Valley of the Loue River and pictures of the famous painter. A decoding key will be revealed at each of the 4 steps, in order to take you to the last cache. You will be given a gift if you confirm all the steps of the circuit.
Theme specific caches:
Wintertime caches:
Suggested in winter, along cross-country ski and snowshoeing trails in the Doubs department, the GPS Safari combines a leisure activity with a fun trail to discover the stunning of Mother Nature.
Ski caches:
Put your skis on and discover the Metabief ski resort (while having fun). All along the circuit, ski on green or blue slopes, available to everyone.
Mountain bike caches:
Follow the mountain bike circuit at Métabief and discover 4 caches on the doors of the station which regularly organizes international competitions.
Independent caches:
Includes all the caches which are not part of a specific theme. New ones are added regularly.
Urban caches:
Those who like unique cultural visits can have access to several circuits in the 3 biggest towns of the Doubs: 2 circuits at the heart of Besançon, in the course of a literary tour on the theme of the work of Stendhal called "In red and black" and "In the footsteps of Vauban". In the town of Montbéliard, explore the theme of industry through a scientific approach: “Le mystère des origines”. The town of Pontarlier has its own cache as well. You'll discover the buildings or the monuments of the "Haut-Doubs' capital".
